South Korea has put housing back at the center of economic policy. The new package raises planned policy support for construction financing from ₩26.3 trillion to at least ₩47.8 trillion, while adding new support for young people and newlyweds buying homes to live in.
The tension is straightforward: Korea wants more supply and better access for genuine buyers, but it also wants to keep speculative demand and household leverage under control. That means the success of the package will depend less on the headline amount than on how quickly financing becomes real construction and whether buyer support pushes demand ahead of supply.
